FAQ
What are your hours?
Hours will vary, so please call the office (814-234-5271) to inquire or you may use the online appointment function.
What kind of payments do you accept?
Insurance is not being accepted at this time as most plans do not cover acupuncture services. Some plans do cover, call your insurance company to inquire and if so, I can provide you with a bill that you can submit to them for reimbursement. The same applies for Health Savings Accounts.
How long do appointments last?
Appointments last 1-1.5 hours.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to arms and legs (above the knee.)
What about the needles?
You can fit 17 acupuncture needles into the opening of a standard vaccine needle. Needles are inserted very superficially, roughly 1/4 inch. All needles are sterile, stainless steel, and single use. No needles are reused.
Here is a photo for the scale of the needle.
What should I not expect from my appointment?
I may not place needles directly into the area that hurts you. I will not be writing any prescriptions or ordering any labs or imaging studies. If we determine during your visit that you may benefit from something of that nature, you will be referred back to your primary care provider for further assessments. While some people may notice an improvement in their condition, this may not happen immediately and you may not notice any change at all after just one session.
What if I do not have any of the ailments listed on your home page?
If you have a condition that is not listed, feel free to contact me using this form and we can work together to determine if acupuncture is right for you. You do not need to have a defined “diagnosis” to benefit from acupuncture. Similar to massage, many people experience generalized feelings of relaxation and well being after an acupuncture treatment.
